What happened

The split running through US crypto ETFs widened again on Aug 7, 2026. Spot Bitcoin ETFs took in roughly $102 million of net inflows and spot Ether ETFs added about $50 million, while every US Solana and XRP ETF recorded exactly zero net creations or redemptions, per Crypto Briefing's read of the daily flow data. Weekly Bitcoin ETF inflows crossed the $750 million mark, spread across BlackRock, Fidelity, ARK 21Shares and Grayscale.

The Solana quiet spell is not a one-day event. All six US spot Solana funds β€” BSOL (Bitwise), VSOL, FSOL, TSOL, SOEZ and GSOL β€” printed $0.0 million for five consecutive sessions from July 29 through Aug 4, according to CryptoSlate's reading of Farside Investors data. That pause followed an $18.1 million outflow from Bitwise's BSOL on July 28. Even so, cumulative net inflows for the Solana group stood at $1.122 billion through Aug 4, of which about $449.3 million (~40%) is seed capital rather than organic demand; Bitwise reported roughly $596.37 million of net assets in BSOL as of Aug 2.

Why a zero is not a redemption

A daily net-flow number counts only the balance of primary-market creations and redemptions β€” the shares authorized participants mint or retire against the underlying coin. A string of zeros means APs did neither; it does not mean investors sold. Secondary-market trading, fund NAV and total assets can all move while the creation/redemption ledger sits flat, which is why BSOL can carry ~$596M in assets through a week of $0.0M prints.

For newer single-asset funds this is the awkward middle stage: past the launch-day seed but short of the steady two-way order flow that lets market makers hold tight premium/discount to NAV. Thin primary activity tends to widen the spread between an ETF's price and its NAV and can dull how quickly the fund's price tracks spot SOL intraday β€” a mechanical drag distinct from any view on the token itself. We flagged the same fragility when a single issuer dominated the category in our BSOL concentration analysis.

What it means for investors

The Aug 7 tape is the cleanest picture yet of a two-tier ETF market: IBIT and ETHA sit in the deep, continuously-created tier, while Solana and XRP products are still in the shallow, seed-heavy tier where daily flow can flatline for a week.

That tiering is a structural signal, not a price call. In the deep tier, persistent creations keep spreads narrow and NAV tracking tight, so the ETF wrapper adds little friction over holding spot. In the shallow tier, the risks are plumbing risks: wider bid/ask, choppier premium/discount, and a pre-market open where price can gap before APs step in to arbitrage it back to NAV. When ~40% of a category's assets are seed capital, headline AUM overstates conviction β€” the number to watch is whether net creations turn consistently positive, not the cumulative total.

Practically: size Solana and XRP ETF entries around liquidity, not just conviction β€” prefer limit orders, watch the premium/discount before the open, and treat a zero-flow streak as a liquidity caution rather than a bearish tell. A durable break higher for the altcoin tier looks like several sessions of genuine creations across more than one issuer, not another day of the majors doing the lifting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Solana ETFs see outflows in early August 2026?

No. All six US Solana ETFs posted zero net flows for five straight sessions from July 29 to Aug 4, 2026 β€” no net creations and no net redemptions β€” after an $18.1M outflow from Bitwise's BSOL on July 28.

How much did Bitcoin and Ether ETFs take in on Aug 7, 2026?

US spot Bitcoin ETFs added roughly $102 million and spot Ether ETFs about $50 million on Aug 7, 2026, while Solana and XRP ETFs recorded zero net change.

Does a zero-flow day mean nobody is trading the ETF?

No. Zero net flow refers only to primary-market creations and redemptions. Secondary-market trading, NAV and total assets can still move β€” BSOL held about $596M in net assets through the streak.
