Editorial Standards & Methodology
How we source, verify and review what we publish β and how our pre-market ETF estimates are calculated.
Editorial standards
- Sourcing. Every factual claim and figure is attributed to a named, authoritative source β fund issuers, regulators (e.g. SEC), established financial media, and recognised flow trackers. Sources are listed on each article.
- Verification. Numbers are checked against the primary source before publication. We do not state as fact anything we cannot attribute.
- Human review. Daily briefings are editorially reviewed before publishing; the reviewer is named in the byline.
- AI disclosure. We use automated tooling to gather and draft from those sources. Output is reviewed for accuracy and framing before it goes live; we publish one original, data-grounded briefing rather than spun or duplicated content.
- Independence. Pre-Tick does not take positions in the securities it covers, and articles are not sponsored.
How we estimate pre-market ETF prices
US-listed ETFs trade only during market hours, but their underlying crypto trades 24/7. We re-price each ETF from its last official close and the live move of the underlying asset since the 4:00 PM ET close, adjusted for the fund's structure:
| Type | Estimate |
|---|---|
| Spot (1Γ) | Close Γ (1 + crypto change %) |
| Leveraged | Close Γ (1 + crypto change % Γ leverage) |
| Inverse (β1Γ) | Close Γ (1 β crypto change %) |
| Futures-based | Uses Binance futures base at 16:00 ET |
Estimates are theoretical fair-value calculations, most accurate for 1Γ spot funds and least accurate for leveraged funds and during sharp, illiquid moves. They are a directional guide, not a guaranteed open price.
Sources we rely on
Underlying crypto prices come from Binance spot and futures feeds. ETF reference data comes from public market data providers and fund issuers. Flow and holdings figures are attributed to the issuer or an established tracker on the relevant article.
